The gameplay itself is not everyone’s cup of tea – the stages’ awkward design flow and the focus on high-speed time-travel has been known to put some fans off – but as a 16-bit curio from yesteryear, this can’t be missed.Īlright, look.SA2 rides high on many fan’s ‘best of’ lists, and is definitely worth a re-buy at its current price. There’s a lot more fluff in Sonic Adventure 2 compared to its predecessor (I mean, mechs? Treasure hunting? Cam’aaahhhhn), but in terms of game mechanics this sequel is a lot tighter – the Sonic and Shadow stages are still a total joy to play. If you had a Dreamcast as a kid, this is worth it for the nostalgia factor. Its gameplay has been ravaged a bit by the passage of time, but it still holds up as an interesting example of how to turn Sonic into an incredibly lite-adventure game. Sonic Mania Plus is scheduled to launch on July 17, 2018, for the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch for $29.99. An all-new Encore Mode that enables local competitive play was also added and in terms of collectability, Sonic Mania Plus comes with a reversible holographic package that features a SEGA Genesis-inspired cover on the other side together with a 32-page collectible art book. Represented by the word "Plus" in the title are new characters (Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel), features and reimagined zones. Sonic Mania Plus is more than just a direct port of the digital version to disc format. In relation to that, Sega officially revealed Sonic Mania Plus for the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Though this may be the case, a Collector's Edition complete with various collectible items were made available for all platforms but it seems that the demand for the physical copy of the game is too many to ignore. Sega's highly acclaimed re-imagined game Sonic Mania launched last year with great success despite the game's digital-only format.
